communications

The City of De Soto Police Department Communications Center is staffed 7 days per week, 24 hours a day, by civilian Dispatchers.
The Communications Center provides dispatch services for:

*The City of De Soto Police Department
*The City of De Soto Fire Department

*After hours emergency calls for the City of De Soto Public Works Department

The Communications Center handles non-emergency and 911 emergency calls for the City of De Soto Police and Fire Departments. The Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) allows the Dispatchers to access information on drivers, vehicles, and wanted information, as well as entries for stolen items. The MULES system is also used to communicate with other law enforcement agencies.

The Communications Center is responsible for monitoring severe weather along with storm spotters and when required the communications center is responsible for activating the emergency warning sirens.  Each month on the first Monday of each month excluding days of inclement weather the Communications center activates the Emergency Warning Sirens to ensure that the sirens are functioning properly.  This occurres at 12:00 pm on that day.

Because the Communications Center is operating 24 hrs a day 7 days a week we also serve as the after hours information center for the city.

During inclement weather please be sure to be aware of your surroundings and keep a close eye on news reports.  If you hear the sirens on a day during inclement weather you are encouraged to take shelter immediately.  This means away from windows, in the basement or the lowest part of your home.  If you are in a trailer or mobile home and you do not have some other place to go you may consider a closet away from windows.  Unless you have an emergency situation do not call the police station to ask if there is an emergency. We need to keep lines open for emergency callers.  Listen to the messages on the siren or via the ENS (Emergency Notification System)

Emergency Notification System

Recently the City of De Soto implemented the Emergency Notification System to keep residents of De Soto informed of issues that arise in the city that may require their immediate action/inaction or attention.  If you are not signed up you may do so by visiting the De Soto City Hall and requesting a form.  Sign up is free of charge and strongly encouraged.  If you have any other questions regarding the Emergency Notification System feel free to stop by or call Chief Paul at (636) 586-8891.
