Frequently asked questions
This page will provide answers to questions that may come up. We are constantly updating this page with new questions so be sure to email us your question at desoto611@desotomopolice.com and check back for updates. What are the days and times that I can come and visit a friend or family member that is in your jail. - Visiting hours are Wednesday and Sunday at 6:00 pm. Visits usually last about 10-15 minutes. It will be communicated to you when you arrive what the rules of the visit will be. If you violate these rules you will not be allowed back and your visit will be over. Only 1 person is allowed to visit each person being held and must be at least 17 years of age. All visitors must present a VALID identification. How can I find out if someone I know is currently being held in your jail facility? -You may contact our Communications Center at (636) 586-8891, 24 hrs a day 7 days a week and the center will let you know if we are currently holding a specific person. Information relative to the charges will not be released other than the bond amount. The De Soto Police Department only accepts CASH when bonding someone out of jail at our facility. Do you give tours of the Police Department? Yes, if people are interested tours of the police department are allowed. The tour must be set up in advance by contacting Lt Brian Werner at (636)586-8891. Also check back soon we will be uploading video tours and demonstrations soon... Will the Police Department assist me in unlocking my car? Unfortunately the De Soto Police Department will no longer make attempts to get keys out of unlocked vehicles. We will more than happy to call a tow company for you or provide you with the number of a requested or local tow company. The De Soto Police Department assumes no responsibility for their services and will not recommend a company. Local companies include but are not limited to, Tom's Towing, T&J Towing, Steve's Towing and Timco Towing. All of these companies are used by the Police Department. Only in emergency situations will the Fire Department be dispatched to unlock doors. I need a copy of a report, what do I do? Reports can be picked up on Monday through Friday by stopping by the Police Department and making contact with the Police Departments Administrative Records Secretary. Please allow 7-10 Business days for a report to be completed and approved. You must be a party to the report or a legal representative to obtain a report. There is a small fee for the copies.
