BUSINESS LICENSE - $50.00

The City of De Soto requires all persons engaging in a business or non-profit enterprise within the City Limits to obtain a business license annually.  The license must be displayed in the place of business or be on the person performing a service within City Limits if an office is not within the City.

• APPLICATION:  An application must be completed by all businesses prior to being issued a license.  Applications are available at City Hall.
• FEE:  The annual fee for a license is $50.00 due by July 1 each year.  The license is valid July 1 - June 30.  The fee is proprated on the initial year of operation based on the date of application.
• WORKERS' COMPENSATION INSURANCE:  If a business is required to provide workers' compensation insurance, they must provide a copy of this certificate.
• MISSOURI SALES TAX ID:  If the business is a retail based business, the Missouri State Sales Tax ID must be provided.
• ZONING:  All businesses will be checked for proper zoning prior to approval of any license
• HEALTH INSPECTION:  If any food or beverages are sold at the business a health inspection by Jefferson County Health Department is required.  The City will need a copy of the inspection, prior to opening.
• BUILDING / DEMOLITION / SIGN PERMITS:  Any construction or demolition of part or all of any existing building requires a building permit.  All business signs require permits, with a fee of $25.00.  Please contact City Hall for all permits.
• INSPECTIONS:  All new businesses will have an inspection by the City's Building Inspector prior to opening.
