Tamara, or “Tammy”, is originally from the
City of St. Louis but has been a resident of Jefferson County
since 2000, and a DeSoto area resident since 2006.
Tammy has an extensive background in working with animals starting in
the l980s working in pet stores. She has also worked as a veterinary
assistant at two different veterinary hospitals and was the
medical tech at the Franklin County Humane Society, and assistant at
the Emergency Clinic in Kirkwood.
She is a proud pet parent herself and takes pride in helping DeSoto’s
citizens with their companion animal and wildlife problems.
“My main concern is to try to curb the
animal problem in the City through owner and citizen education.
There are many resources out there to help with spaying & neutering.
And vaccinating pets, especially since we do live in a country
setting, is essential.
Wildlife carries distemper, which is transmitted easily to our pet dogs.
And there’s always a risk of rabies from the wild animals.
That can be transmitted to humans and become fatal.
Not to mention that it is a city requirement to have a current rabies
vaccine to get your City Pet Tag each year.”
Tammy also deals with "problem properties",
in the areas of weeds, junk and debris. Derelict vehicles and Yard Sale
regulations, including illegally placed signs, are also part of Tammy's job
to handle. Any questions or problems about any of these subjects should be
directed to her.
