The City of DeSoto Police Department is committed to the service of the
citizens of the City.
Our goal is to partner with the community to
enhance the quality of life and to use our resources to foster a safe and secure
environment.
Patrol Division:
The Patrol Division is considered the backbone of the Police Department. The
Patrol Division is made up of two Sergeants and ten full time Officers. We have
two squads that are supervised by the Sergeants. The patrol works rotating
twelve-hour shifts to maximize coverage and limit response times.
Detective:
The Detective Bureau consists of one full
time Detective.
Code Enforcement:
The Desoto Police Department has one Officer assigned to Code Enforcement. Those
duties range from retrieving animals at large to enforcing health and safety
violations in and around residences and businessess.
K-9 Unit:
The K-9 unit consist of one K-9 and one handler.
The K-9 unit is available for group demonstrations.
Records:
One civilian
secretary handles all the record keeping duties for the Police Department.
Dispatch:
The City of DeSoto Police Department
Communications Center is staffed 7 days per week, 24 hours a day, by civilian
Dispatchers.
The Communications Center provides dispatch services for:
*The City of DeSoto Police Department
*The City of DeSoto Fire Department
*After hours emergency calls for the City of DeSoto *Public
Works Department
The Communications Center handles non-emergency and
emergency calls. The Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) allows the
Dispatchers to access information on drivers, vehicles, and wanted information,
as well as entries for stolen items. The MULES system is also used to
communicate with other law enforcement agencies.
D.A.R.E.:
D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education)
is a cooperative effort between the City of De Soto Police Department and the De
Soto School District. D.A.R.E. is an educational program for fifth grade
students designed to prevent or reduce drug abuse and violence among children.
The program assists students in recognizing and resisting the many pressures
that they may face.
