Mission Statement
The mission of the Public Works Department is to enhance De Soto’s quality of life through the construction and operation of a safe, effective physical environment; and to provide our visitors, our neighborhoods, and our businesses the efficient, quality services necessary to support the infrastructure demands of our growing community.

Department Description
The Department of Public Works consists of 19 dedicated employees who is responsible for overall improvement, maintenance and inspection, traffic safety, water resources management, storm water management and sediment control, environmental issues and water and sewer utilities which also include treatment plants, snow removal and City park projects and maintenance.

The City restructured its public service operations to form the Public Works Department in 2005. This was accomplished without an increase in personnel and has streamlined operations to provide more efficient services to our community.
