Police
Welcome to the De Soto Police Department. We have
provided information on our site as a service to the
citizens of De Soto. We hope that you find the
information useful. We have also included links to
other locations that would provide more in depth
information regarding specific areas of interest.
The Police Department is just one branch of the Department of Public Safety. There are 15 Full-time Police Officers currently employed with the City that work a rotating 12-hour shift. Officers on duty are responsible for patrolling the city, responding to calls for service and assume a proactive role to prevent crimes before they happen. Each squad is supervised by a Sergeant or a Lieutenant. Several officers are also cross trained as Firefighters to assist the De Soto Fire Department as needed.
The Police Department has a Communications Division that is responsible for dispatching Police to calls as required. Calls that come into our 911 center for EMS and Fire are immediately transferred to Jeffco 911 where appropriate personnel are dispatched.
