Street Maintenance

Services provided by the De Soto Public Works Department includes:

• Construction and maintenance of streets.

• Construction and maintenance of alleys.

• Sidewalk repair and replacement

• Installation and repair of curbs and gutters.

• Installation and repair of storm sewers and drains.

• Clean and sweep streets.

• Paint traffic control lines on streets, curbs.

• Tree maintenance on City property.

• Concrete and asphalt patching of streets.

• Install street name signs and traffic control signs.

• Plow snow and salt streets.

CITY STREET MAJOR PROJECTS

Amvets drive from Main street to Highway 21 will soon have a new driving surface thanks to the Stimulus money by the United States as part to help create jobs in our area.

The public works personnel have been installing new water mains in preparation for the new street surface which will be coming up in the next year of 2010. The new surface will be two types concrete and asphalt. The surface from Main Street to Concord Street will be asphalt and from Concord Street to Highway 21 will be concrete.

In addition to Amvets Drive next year, Miller Street is planned to have major upgrades to the driving surface from Main Street to to Donnelly and then from Donnelly to State Highway (N) or Rock Road.
There will be side walk replacement and repairs, new sidewalk installation, street lighting, curbing repair/replacement and the driving surface will be asphalt.
